Those of you reading this should already know that I am the founder and person that is 100% behind the website, EmotionalNinja.net
So I decided why not share some stats with you on that website. These are the top 10 articles on EmotionalNinja.net by Unique Visitors. I am also going to include the Home Page in this as it is in some ways considered an “article”
10. Battlefield Bad Company 2: How To Unlock Class Specific Weapons – 4,783
This just sneaks into the number 10 spot. As far as age goes it’s a fairly new article being posted on March 2nd on this year. I didn’t do much marketing for this, and it hasn’t really done too well in search engine results however it still manages to fair pretty well among my articles. It’s a must read for those of you that are fans of Bad Company 2.
9. 1TB SSDs are going to be as big as a postage stamp! – 4,812
This one surprised me, it was never an article I thought would get too many vistors however one day I decided to “like it” on StumbleUpon and it took off soon after that. I suppose it was just a neat article about how the newer Solid State Discs are going to be insanely small and it also goes to show how great StumbleUpon can be.
8. Windows 7 anti-piracy update is out now (KB971033) – 5,402
I tossed this onto N4G.com as soon as the update was released. Overnight it took off and reached the front page by the time I came from work the next day. Another one which was posted a little after which also got a lot of attention on N4G.com was: Microsoft installs the Windows Validation update in the background. which got 4,056 visitors. Both are worth checking out in my opinion.
7. Stupid Tattoo’s: Volume FOUR – 7,023
This one was purely thanks to StumpleUpon. This post was made in the early days when I had no clue what to post, and so I did a series of stupid tattoos and this ended up getting quite a bit of attention. However it was outdone by another article which took the number 6 spot.
6. Gaming Tattoos – 8,703
Whoever said that StumpleUpon was useless needs to be shot in the foot. This service has brought me so much traffic it’s not even funny. It’s done so well that I’m starting my own network of blogs that are only using StumpleUpon and Facebook to market them.
5. MAG Beta is Underwhelming – 9,477
This article was the one that showed me the potential of N4G.com I didn’t submit this myself as I do with most of my articles. One of my readers did and it got to the very front page of N4G.com and got a temp. of over 900 degrees. That day I received my most visitors ever at over 16,000 unique visitors. It was a great great day that I hope to start matching on a daily basis.
4. Modern Warfare 2: How To Get Pro Level Perks – 14,481
This one piggy backed on the most viewd post ever. I just simply took the link, added it to that post and it helped to coast it into the number 4 spot. So those of you that don’t think interlinking works, think again.
3. Final Fantasy XIII: Item Guide – 20,244
This is my newest post to be on here, and it also managed to get to the number 3 spot. I’m not quite sure because from what I can see there isn’t much traffic from search engines for this article, so I’m really not quite sure how it has gotten over 1,000 visitors per day since it was posted but some how it has and I’m not going to complain. It is also now 90% finished, so I hope it will start to gain some serious traffic and perhaps overtake my number 1 article sometime soon.
2. Home Page – 108,524
Quite a jump from the number 3 spot and the number 2 spot. Well the jump gets even bigger between number 2 and number 1. However I wanted to explain why I included this. I use WordPress.com Stats to track my visitors. The reason being is it is very accurate in doing this and doesn’t track my own visits. I’ve used this since I started using wordpress a few years back and I have never seen the Home Page being tracked. I’m guessing because people never went directly to my Home Page before but around January I started getting “Home Page” in my top posts for the day so that is why I’m including it here.
1. Modern Warfare 2: How To Get Titles and Emblems – 806,272
Not surprising this claimed the number 1 spot. It’s the number 1 result in google for just about every way of finding “modern warfare 2 titles” and considering this game was the biggest media launch in history it’s no surprise that I would get a lot of traffic to it because I ranked extremely well on google for many search terms. This is the post that got me serious about blogging, and to be honest with out it I probably would have given up. This article is what started my enthusiasm in it, but it is in no one a one trick pony. Sure it got a TON of traffic and still gets me TONS AND TONS of traffic each and every day. However if you look at just my top 10 articles I’ve gotten close to (if not more than) 1,000,000 visitors. My website contains hundreds of articles, all of which have the potential to get 1,000+ visitors and I have shifted away from short articles to longer, more beneficial ones that just get more traffic.
Now if you learn anything from this at all it should be that even though your web site may not be big it still has potential to get some serious traffic. I went from getting 5,000 page views a month to getting a staggering 750,000 page views a month because I posted one article that ranked well on google. Just post what you are pasionate about and you will have no problem getting good visitors. Sure it may take some time and some hard work but believe me it’s well worth it.
